Oh boy, a lot has changed since my last post! Well, actually only one tiny, 3.5 kg thing has changed, but it has quite the impact :) On the 21st of March we welcomed our baby boy and we’ve been on a newborn roller-coaster ever since! Because I obviously have baby on my mind (#sorrynotsorry), I thought I’d share a glimpse at our mini’s brand new room!

We’re currently only renovating the first floor of our house (ground floor is a second phase), but in true nesting modus, I couldn’t just leave our little one’s room as is. If you would have seen the sad green wallpaper, you would have agreed with me. That’s just not the backdrop for a beautiful start in life. (In hindsight: given the nightly hours I’m spending in this room nursing our mini, I’m also grateful not to have to stare at that depressing print while doing so :D) Anyway: enter a little Pinterest inspiration spree (a mountain mural! Want!), a color scheme based on the birth announcement plus this thing we seem to have developed for polar bears (I kinda blame you, Trixie), and we’ve had ourselves a concept!

The room became a true team effort, with dad-to-be tearing of the wallpaper, painting the room white and assembling the furniture (basically doing all the hard work, shhht) and this preggo momma painting the mural, doing some DIY and adding the final deco touches. We’d already gotten a bunch of beautiful gifts from friends and family so it felt like the room decorated itself! Can you feel all the love on that shelf? ;)

I’m thrilled with the crafty/DIY touches we added to the room. Pinspiration for the win! Beside the mural (inspired by this pretty room), I set my limited sewing skills to work and made a new cover for the clichéd IKEA Poang chair which became my spot for night feeding (thanks to this easy peasy pattern), making it fit  seamlessly in the room’s color scheme (what can I say, I like it matchy matchy…). As a cherry on the pie, dad worked a bit of carpentry magic and made his son a little iceberg display shelf to showcase the birth announcement and baby favors (yes we went for little plants, what did you expect ;))

It’s not a big or spectacular space but I feel it surrounds him with our love and creativity and there are no better themes I could wish him in his life…
Love, C.
