Because Paris is ALWAYS a good idea, my girls and I treated ourselves to a quick weekend getaway last week. Why not, right? It’s Europe’s most kick-ass perk: a few hours on the road and BOOOM you’re abroad. I really feel like we don’t take advantage of that nearly often enough. Hence: hurray for spontaneous getaways! My golden rule for a fuss free (and budget friendly!) stay in the city of light: check Airbnb for a place to stay south of the Seine: easy access, central location and free parking! True: most of the cosy/hip areas are above the Seine (think Le Marais, Canal St. Martin,…), but I personally prefer staying in the more quiet “residential” left bank arrondissements (7th for the win of course, brings back fond memories of my time living there…) It’s just so easy and stress free, and everything is just a a quick metro ride away anyhow. Plus: I’m such a sucker for those classic Parisian apartment buildings :) The moment we cross the Périphérique and my eyes meet the first one, always feels a little like coming home…

Seeing as our stay was short and sweet, we selected a few favorites to (re)visit. After an indispensable bistro lunch (on a sunlit terrace! <3) we started our Saturday with a walk along the water at Canal St. Martin: beautiful views, colorful people and interesting little shops (for all you lovers of books and all things creative, definitely stop by Artazart) Followed by a light (scout’s honour!) shopping spree at Rue de Charonne (What can I say: So We Are has stolen my heart…) We ended the day with delicious bistro burgers at Le Bellerive (top tip for yummy food & ditto waiters ;) ) and a night walk home past the Eiffel tower (fringe benefit of a stay in the 7th ;) ) The perfect Parisian day! Followed by an equally great Parisian Sunday! But more on that later ;)
